Advokasi kendiri (self-advocacy) bermula dari kesedaran kendiri (self-awareness), iaitu memahami simptom anda dan bagaimana simptom ini mempengaruhi prestasi kerja dan keadaan anda dalam persekitaran kerja yang berstruktur. Dengan meluangkan masa untuk mengenali dan memahami diri dan simptom ADHD, anda dapat mengenalpasti keperluan serta sokongan yang diperlukan di tempat kerja.<\/p><p>Sebagai contoh, anda boleh mula bertanya diri soalan berikut:<\/p><ul><li>Adakah persekitaran yang sibuk dan bising membuatkan saya merasa terganggu atau tertekan di tempat kerja?<\/li><li>Adakah saya sukar untuk beralih daripada satu tugas atau projek ke projek yang berikutnya?<\/li><li>Adakah simptom impulsif dan hiperaktiviti menyebabkan saya sukar mengekalkan sikap profesional dalam situasi tertentu di tempat kerja?<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Tip Untuk Anda di Tempat Kerja: Terima Maklum Balas dengan Hati yang Terbuka<\/span><\/em><\/p><p>Kadangkala, maklum balas daripada rakan sekerja atau penyelia boleh membuka mata anda tentang bagaimana ADHD mempengaruhi cara anda bekerja. Walaupun maklum balas tersebut mungkin sukar diterima, maklum balas yang membina boleh membantu anda melakukan penambahbaikan dari segi cara kerja serta memberi peluang untuk mengajar rakan sekerja tentang bagaimana cara individu dewasa dengan ADHD bekerja.<\/p><h2><strong>Tahu Hak Anda Sebagai Pekerja di Malaysia<\/strong><\/h2><p>Di Malaysia, pengiktirafan ADHD sebagai suatu kekurangan upaya di tempat kerja masih dalam peringkat perkembangan dan banyak organisasi di sini belum memahami sepenuhnya akan keperluan pekerja yang mempunyai ADHD. Walau bagaimanapun, isu ini sedang dalam proses kemajuan. Pekerja yang mempunyai ADHD semakin sedar akan hak mereka dan sumber yang mereka miliki untuk memperjuangkan kesedaran mengenai ADHD di tempat kerja dengan lebih efektif.<\/p><p>Berdasarkan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kpwkm.gov.my\/kpwkm\/uploads\/files\/Dokumen\/Akta\/Akta%20685%20-%20Akta%20Orang%20Kurang%20Upaya%202008.pdf\">Akta Orang Kurang Upaya 2008<\/a>, perundangan di Malaysia menyokong individu yang mempunyai ketidakupayaan di tempat kerja. Walaupun akta ini masih tertumpu kepada kecacatan secara fizikal, visual dan pendengaran, akta ini boleh ditafsirkan atau diperluaskan kepada definisi yang lebih menyeluruh, merangkumi sokongan untuk individu dengan masalah perkembangan seperti gangguan pembelajaran (learning disorder), dan ADHD. Namun, hal ini harus disertai dengan sikap menghormati budaya lain (sensitiviti budaya). Sebagai contoh, dalam <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifescied.org\/doi\/10.1187\/cbe.20-06-0107\">satu kajian<\/a>, pengkaji mendapati sekiranya anda mampu berkomunikasi dengan jelas mengenai ADHD anda, individu lain akan lebih mudah memahami anda dan memberi tindak balas yang positif, diikuti dengan rasa ingin tahu serta empati yang lebih mendalam.<\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Berikut adalah cara yang anda boleh gunakan untuk berkomunikasi mengenai keadaan anda dengan lebih jelas di tempat kerja:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><b>Fokus kepada solusi dan bukannya masalah: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tunjukkan kepada rakan sekerja dan penyelia anda bagaimana anda dapat memberikan sumbangan secara efektif dan meningkatkan produktiviti gerak kerja anda.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><b>Komunikasi yang jelas: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gunakan contoh yang khusus untuk menerangkan bagaimana perubahan cara kerja dapat membantu anda.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><b>Berkongsi secara 60% tetapi <\/b><b><i>authentic<\/i><\/b><b>: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Anda tidak perlu membincangkan diagnosis anda sepenuhnya (secara 100%) sekiranya anda tidak selesa, tetapi apa yang anda boleh lakukan adalah untuk berkongsi dengan cara yang <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">non-confrontationa<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">l (tidak menyebabkan konflik atau ketegangan)<\/span><\/li><li><b>Sokongan Rakan Sebaya (Rakan Sekerja): <\/b>Anda perlu membina kemahiran dalam bersosial di tempat kerja serta mendapatkan sokongan daripada rakan sekerja yang boleh dipercayai. Ini akan menggalakkan semangat kekitaan dan membantu anda tidak merasa terpinggir di tempat kerja.<\/li><\/ul><h3><b>Memupuk Komunikasi Secara Terbuka dengan Penyelia Anda<\/b><\/h3><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mempunyai penyelia yang sentiasa terbuka, memberi sokongan dan mengambil peduli mengenai pekerjanya adalah salah satu cara yang efektif bagi individu dewasa dengan ADHD untuk <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">advocate<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> atau memperjuangkan hak dirinya. Namun, memulakan perbualan atau perbincangan mengenai ADHD dengan penyelia anda mungkin boleh menjadi hal yang menakutkan, terutamanya apabila wujud rasa takut akan penilaian (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">judgment) <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">dan kritikan yang mungkin timbul melalui perbualan atau perbincangan tersebut.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Perasaan takut ini bukanlah perasaan yang tidak berasas kerana sebilangan individu dewasa dengan ADHD melaporkan bahawa mereka sering disalah anggap atau dilabel oleh rakan sekerja dan keluarga. Perkara ini sering menjadi halangan untuk mereka memupuk budaya berkomunikasi terbuka disebabkan rasa takut.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Berikut adalah bagaimana anda boleh memulakan komunikasi secara terbuka bersama penyelia anda:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><b>Pilih masa dan tempat yang sesuai: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Masa yang sesuai amat penting sekiranya perbualan memerlukan perhatian yang lebih teliti. Anda juga boleh memilih untuk memulakan perbualan melalui emel dimana anda boleh merancang dan menyusun idea dengan lebih mudah dan teratur.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><b>Berterus terang ketika disalah anggap (<\/b><b><i>misjudgments)<\/i><\/b><b>: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sekiranya simptom ADHD anda di tempat kerja telah disalah anggap, ini adalah masa yang sesuai untuk berbincang mengenainya. Paling penting, anda harus memberikan konteks yang betul kepada penyelia anda agar mereka lebih mudah untuk memahami keadaan anda.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><b>Cadangkan perubahan secara berperingkat: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Elakkan membebankan penyelia anda dengan permintaan yang banyak sekali gus. Sebaiknya, mulakan dengan beberapa perubahan yang boleh mendatangkan impak yang besar kepada cara kerja dan hasil kerja anda.<\/span><\/li><li><b>Sering melakukan <\/b><b><i>follow-up <\/i><\/b><b>&amp; evaluasi: <\/b>Setelah penyelia atau tempat kerja anda bersetuju untuk melakukan beberapa perubahan mengenai cara kerja yang boleh membantu mengetengahkan kekuatan ADHD, anda harus sentiasa melakukan <i>follow-up<\/i>.\u00a0 Ini menunjukkan anda komited untuk melakukan perubahan kepada hasil kerja anda dan terbuka kepada penyelesaian yang mungkin boleh dilakukan mengikut keperluan.<\/li><\/ul><h2><b>Memperkasa Diri Anda dan Melakukan Perubahan<\/b><\/h2><p><em>Advocating<\/em>, atau membela hak anda sebagai individu dewasa dengan ADHD di Malaysia mungkin merupakan cabaran, namun ia juga membuka peluang kepada komuniti ADHD Dewasa untuk mengambil alih atau mengawal perjalanan profesional anda di dunia pekerjaan. Harus diingat,<em> advocacy<\/em> bukanlah dilakukan semata-mata untuk mendapatkan accommodation atau menuntut penyesuaian di tempat kerja. Sebaliknya, ia bertujuan bagi mengetengahkan diri anda sebagai individu yang unik dan bernilai kepada organisasi.
